Can We Invent Heaven?

We invent a new device. Maybe a pod-like device large enough to lay within. Once in this pod, you are connected to it in every way. The pod provides complete bio-available nutrient delivery, waste removal, and interface functions the human body needs to sustain itself. The pod is connected to the human’s consciences and perception systems. They are seamlessly integrated and connected.

Once connected to the pod, you open your eyes within a private universe. Everything feels, looks, smells, and tastes real to you. This world is at first a default recreation of our external one detailed to your life and history, but completely shapeable by you. This is a personal reality, your heaven, your hell, your creation. Anything can be manifest by the mind when it is free to express itself as it sees fit with no limitation. Within a private universe where you are God, there is no judgment, there is no good, no evil; unless you think it so. A place of pure expression is a place free of all judgment; a place free of judgment is a solitary place that has no way of being shared with anyone else external to it. Within your private universe, anything would be permissible because everything is artificial, real only to you, its creator and sole interpreter. In a universe within your mind, there is no direct connection to concepts of "right or wrong" because nothing can exploit, harm, or persecute any other external person with any form of expression. A solitary universe is vital to the purity of your individually expressive freedom, for the sharing of it instantly contaminates both the audience and creator with various forms of judgment.

Free of the physical and social limitation of our shared reality, you may explore, create, and define your personal reality. All constructs of our shared reality are free to be explored to the limitless potentials of your imagination. Morality, physics, time, and space are yours to define, experience, and perceive. This can be shaped as much or little as you’d like in any direction you’d like. Simulate your life perfectly with anyone you can imagine and any outcome you'd prefer. Relive your memories to the last detail. Explore paths never walked. Everything is real to you but only you.

Your world is safe from everyone else and we are safe from your world. This stipulation is the key to its limitless expressive and therapeutic potentials. No matter the intent of any external audience, its presence instantaneously removes the only protection that makes personal heavens possible. The moment an external person’s view enters an individual’s heaven it opens to the limiting possibilities of offense, pain, persecution, interpretation, definition, and criticism projected onto either the creator or audience alike. These perceptions then leak back into our shared reality, which is not acceptable or safe for any party. If this can be protected then every individual can explore total freedom in any form they define.

Will we have invented Heaven?

Could such an invention manifest prophecies such as the rapture of the Cristian faith; As individuals find total freedom from the burdens of our reality and the joys of limitless expression, will they choose to return to our shared world?

Would this be a personal Pandora’s Box, that must remain closed to external view in order to protect both its contents and the world from each other?

What happens when you experience total freedom of expression with only yourself as the audience?
